Dr. Nanduri R. Prabhakar received Ph.D. in Physiology from Baroda, India and D.Sc in Biology from Ruhr-University, Germany. In 1984, he joined the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA as an Assistant Professor and became Professor and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Physiology (1997-2007). In 2007 he joined the University of Chicago. He is currently Harold H. Hines Professor and Inaugural Director of the Institute for Integrative Physiology and Center for Systems Biology of O2 sensing at the University of Chicago, USA. He is a leading authority on O2 sensing mechanisms and physiological consequences of hypoxia and published more than 200 papers.
